Breast Cancer Now are the largest breast cancer research charity in the UK. They wanted us to design and build a new platform which enables supporters to create personalised fund pages and events to celebrate the life of their loved one and to fundraise for breast cancer research.
What we did
We needed to cater to two primary audiences: people considering starting a fund or event for their loved one, and people who are wanting to make a donation. Through a series of wireframe validation and user testing workshops with various different kinds of users, we refined the design to arrive at a responsive, clean, friendly simple user experience for both audiences.
We’ve made it simple for friends and relatives to make donations – personalising them with messages and photos which appear on the fund activity wall. We’ve also enabled to create events linked to a fund – providing an additional way of raising funds in memory of their loved one.
Funds in Memory was designed to replace existing platforms – taking on their new branding and improving user experience. So the project involved the technical challenges of importing data from existing funds, as well and creating a data export function for their CRM system.
Breast Cancer Now soft launched Funds in memory in July and the have planned their public launch for August 2016 after some further iterations. So far, the new platform has been very well received by existing fundholders.
I did this project during my time working for Yoomee Digital. I was the designer and producer on this project and my responsibilities included:
